Greetings!
Despite the wind and rain, the spring has really made an appearance in our gardens and road verges etc, with so much early colour from the hardier shrubs and plants. There seems to be something showing signs of new growth each day as we take a stroll around our gardens, with so much more to look forward to now that there is some slight warmth from any sunshine that we may be blessed with at this time of year.
It was good to welcome several new members who joined the Society at our recent AGM in January. Our next group meeting will be on Wednesday 27th March and will be presented by Gillian Taylor who will give a talk entitled “My Greenhouse Year”. This topic will cover not only aspects of greenhouse design but mostly Gillian’s journey from starting with a cold-frame to now utilising two fully stocked greenhouses, both of which are used all year round, propagating, growing on from seeds and cuttings etc., and over-wintering those frost tender items during the bitter weather periods. Her expertise covers both flowers and vegetables, so something for all growers. Gillian will also tell us where to visit some interesting greenhouses and loves to share her experience with some helpful tips.
All our meetings are held in the Bartholomew Room of the Victory Hall on the last Wednesday of each month (apart from August and December) starting at 7.30pm. Visitors are always made most welcome and we look forward to meeting you.
